Today is June 11th 2012, a milestone in animal welfare. Today, (for just one day) over 700 animal shelters have committed to make this the safest day for animals in shelters. Today, they will not euthanize animals, instead, they will pick up their cameras and photograph them, and promote animals to be adopted into loving homes. Many of the shelters that are normally closed today will open their doors to the public; they will extend adoption hours and cut the fees of adoptions.
As a nation of animal lovers we need to stand behind the pledge these shelters have taken to make June 11th the first No Kill for Just One Day. We need to support their commitment. For one day we have the opportunity to make a huge difference to so many lives of animals that need homes!
